KYWC News: Jan-Feb 2022

Happy New Year 2022 🙂

The beginning of a year is a time of new beginnings. It reminds us that we can make a fresh start.

We invite you now to take a moment to take a slow, deep breath, to close your eyes, and with gratitude, release the past year. Then welcome the new year with a smile. Welcome its possibilities. If you like, set an intention for the year, something big or small, that you want to create in your life. More joy? Peace? Wellness? Connection? Ease and flow? Breath in the energy of your intention. When you feel complete, say thank you and open your eyes.

At the beginning of your yoga class, you may choose to set an intention for your practice. Setting this intention is a way to bring your awareness to a quality you would like to embody on the mat and in your daily life.

Yoga Classes

We look forward to seeing you in class. Bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets, and mats are available at the center to help you feel supported in your practice. Please bring your own mat and props if you have them.

Preregistration is required. We appreciate your understanding.

Flow and Restore

Mondays at 6:15-7:30 pm with Carla VanWormer

This class is designed to cultivate mindfulness, integrate breath and movement, and help you achieve balance for the body and mind. Flow and Restore is a calming yet stimulating yoga class with a mix of active flowing sequences and more passive restorative release. Poses are held for a longer period of time allowing students to find their edge and soften into restful relaxation. Pranayama and meditation are also weaved into the class. Props are used as tools to become more aware of the body and listen to its feedback. This class is for all levels.

Vinyasa Flow

Thursdays at 4:15-5:30 pm with Carla

Explore the foundational elements of Vinyasa with this approach designed to help you safely practice the basics while building heat. You will gradually grow into each posture and explore modified versions of poses which allow you to experience alignment in each pose at an intuitive level. This class, although more rigorous and heat-building than Monday’s class, is suitable for all levels.

Saturday Sunrise Flow

9:15-10:30 am on January 15, 22 and February 26th with Carla

Wake up and celebrate the start of a new day. This class leads you through a Vinyasa yoga sequence focused on opening the hips, quads, and hamstrings, while also providing poses to strengthen your core and improve your balance. This class is for all levels.

For Carla’s students: Preregister for the class dates of your choice on this form.

Reminder: KYWC automatically closes and cancels classes when South Jeff schools close for the day or cancel afterschool activities. We are also closed on holidays.
