KYWC News: April 2021

We are very excited to reopen for yoga classes this month. Public health has given the Center its “stamp of approval” for our indoor space and policies for compliance with state mandates and guidelines, so we are ready to go – yay!

Our Teachers and Classes

We have so fortunate to have three wonderful, highly experienced, certified yoga instructors at KYWC. (Get to know our teachers here) They are starting off the season with several class options for you to choose from during April and May.

Due to COVID, we are asking you to bring your own mat and props if you have them. If you need to use our mats and bolsters, please bring a large towel and two pillowcases (to cover the bolsters). Please bring your own blanket.

Also, please read these two posts before registering and attending classes.

Jeri Haldeman is teaching Relax, Restore, Renew: Yoga for EveryBODY on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30 pm.

This class is designed to reduce stress, build strength & balance, this is a good class for beginners and a solid foundation class for all levels. This class begins with gentle stretching and continues into a Vinyasa flow (smooth transitions between poses and the breath).  It finishes with Restorative yoga that melts away stress and tension. These are long-held, fully supported postures. You emerge rooted, radiant, and revitalized. All levels.

Carla VanWormer is teaching Flow and Restore Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga classes starting April 19th.

Each of these classes are suitable for all levels. Bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets are props used to help you feel supported in your practice.

Monday Flow and Restore 6:15-7:30 pm
This class is designed to cultivate mindfulness, integrate breath and movement, and help you achieve balance for the body and mind.  Flow and Restore is a calming yet stimulating yoga class with a mix of active flowing sequences and more passive restorative release. Poses are held for a longer period of time allowing students to find their edge and soften into restful relaxation.  Pranayama and meditation is also weaved into the class. Props are used as tools to become more aware of the body and listen to its feedback.

Thursday Vinyasa Flow 4:00-5:15 pm
Explore the foundational elements of Vinyasa. This approach is designed to help you safely practice the basics while building heat. You will gradually grow into each posture and explore modified versions of poses which allow you to experience alignment in each pose at an intuitive level.
